Coles may have first popped up in Collingwood way back in 1914, but the vibrant, innovative and ever-growing supermarket leader isn’t frozen in amber. Here at STAARK, we’ve been proud to join forces with the industry titan to help keep their stores at the forefront of contemporary design that sings.

Situated in the bayside suburb of Patterson Lakes, set some 35km southeast of Melbourne’s CBD, this store underwent a major overhaul as part of Coles’ renewal project. Project Lead Nigel De Silva says. “At the time, it was one of the largest jobs we’ve ever done for Coles and I’m really proud of what we achieved.”

Requiring feature cladding, a visual revamp of the deli, whipped up while still in full working order, new bakery and seafood sections, plus brand-new flooring, it was a big gig. Coles clearly approved. “Once we were done, we also picked up some extra work building a Click&Collect canopy for them,” Nigel adds.

Scope of works

New Structural Bulkheads over Deli and Bakery.
Bulkhead treatments, Knotwood and Pinoli Cladding.
Full internal repaint and line marking back of house.
Full internal vinyl replacement.
Trenching and new drains for Refrigeration Cases.
New Lighting and Power.
Relocation of Fire Services.
Refurb of Fish, Deli and Bakery areas including Painting, Tiling, Epoxy, Cladding and Partitions.
Convert old Meat Area with new partition walls to create new Click and Collect back of house room and Service Desk.
New Remax back of house doors.
New Orange Juice and Flat Bread machine, new Chicken Oven and new Mochi Fridge.
New Customer Service Desk and Front End Registers.
New bumper rails and crash protection.
Coordination of all Coles direct contractors works including Refrigeration, Internal and External signage, Shop fitting, Data Electricians, Security and IT.
New External Click and Collect Awning including structural steel, roofing and drainage, lighting, cladding, painting, Click and Collect car park bays and line marking.
